The Securities and Exchange Commission issued an order increasing the net worth threshold for qualified clients from $2 million to $2.1 million. They approved an adjustment for inflation of the dollar amount tests in Rule 205-3 under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 pertaining to a “Qualified Client”. Under the Order, a "qualified client" is one that has at least $1 million under the management of the investment adviser or has a net worth of more than $2.1 million. In its third year of honoring the top innovators and tech entrepreneurs in St. Louis, the Business Journal recently unveiled this year’s Innovation Award winners. With the entrepreneurial ecosystem expanding from coast to coast, venture investors deployed capital to 3,662 companies located in 133 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) in 2015 according to a National Venture Capital Association press release.
